The Author
The dream she tucked away and the morning it finally arrived.
Jennifer Maddie has always believed the moments that change us are never the ones we plan, in a field outside a city you’ve never been to, in the company of a friend you didn’t know you needed.
Writing has been part of her life since middle school, but a children’s book stayed just out of reach for years, set aside for leadership work, long walks with her dogs, and notebooks full of half-finished beginnings.
The story found her in Pune. On a trip to India, she noticed a gentle cow and a spirited little egret spending their days side by side, keeping each other company in a friendship no one would have predicted.
That friendship eventually became Bindi and Raj: Under the Same Sky.
A quiet life up north
Jennifer lives in the woods of New Hampshire with her husband and four rescue dogs. The dogs are, as you might imagine, the first audience for
everything she writes. Some are tougher critics than others.
When she isn't writing
When she isn't writing, Jennifer helps leaders grow with heart. The two aren’t as separate as they sound. Both come down to paying attention to people, and trusting that honesty and warmth carry further than almost anything else. It’s the same spirit she pours into the stories she tells.
Bindi & Raj is her debut picture book. She hopes it finds the children, and the grown-ups, who need it.
