Jennifer Maddie has always believed that the most important moments arrive quietly — in a field outside a city you've never been to, in the company of a friend you didn't know you needed.
A New Englander at heart, Jennifer has loved writing since middle school
and always dreamed of writing a children's book. She kept the dream tucked
away through years of leadership work, long walks with her dogs, and
notebooks filled with half-finished beginnings.
That dream finally came true after a visit to Pune, India, where on a warm,
sunny morning she noticed a gentle cow and a spirited little egret spending
their days side by side, quietly keeping each other company in the most
unexpected friendship.
That moment eventually became Bindi and Raj: Under the Same Sky.
A life in the woods
Jennifer lives in the woods of New Hampshire with her husband and four
rescue dogs. The dogs are, as you might imagine, the first audience for
everything she writes. Some are tougher critics than others.
When she isn't writing
When she isn't writing, Jennifer helps leaders grow with heart. She believes
deeply in the magic of quiet moments, bold conversations, and friendships
that make life brighter — the same beliefs that quietly thread their way into
every page of her work.
Bindi & Raj is her debut picture book. She hopes it finds the children — and
the grown-ups — who need it.
